Goalkeeper Development Camp

The University of Maryland Goalkeeper Development Camp is designed to provide comprehensive instruction for goalkeepers of all skill levels. Under the direction of expert collegiate coaching staff and current University of Maryland players, goalkeepers will receive position-specific training that fosters technical development and tactical understanding.

Program Overview

This camp offers age-appropriate training sessions tailored to the needs of developing and advanced goalkeepers while keeping the camper to coach ratio low to allow maximum coaching points. Campers will interact and train with current University of Maryland goalkeepers, gaining firsthand insight into the demands of collegiate-level play.

Training Focus by Age Group

  • Younger Goalkeepers (Ages 11–13):
    • Campers will focus on building a strong foundation in goalkeeping fundamentals, including positioning, footwork, handling, and communication. The curriculum emphasizes confidence-building and game awareness in a supportive, development-focused environment.
  • Older Goalkeepers (Ages 14–18):
    • Advanced sessions will challenge goalkeepers through tactical and situational training, with an emphasis on real-game scenarios, decision-making, and strategic positioning. This training is designed to prepare athletes for high-level competition, including collegiate play.

Overview of Tentative Schedule:

  • 3:30 PM | Dynamic Warm Up
  • 3:45 PM | Explanation of Topic & Technical Demonstration
  • 3:50 PM | Technical Progressions
  • 4:10 PM | Goalkeeper Drill Progressions
  • 5:15 PM | Group Game!
  • 5:30 PM | Conclusion of Camp Day

What To Bring:

Campers should bring a water (water cooler will be available), cleats, soccer ball, tennis shoes, shin guards, sunscreen.

Refund Policy:

There’s a $100 non-refundable registration fee.

We must have a written note of cancellation emailed to sfbutler@umd.edu.  

Cancellation more than 10 days prior to camp (through May 23rd, 2025): All fees refunded except $100 non-refundable registration fee. 

Cancellation less than 10 days prior to camp: No refund unless there’s a medical issue. A note from the physician must be emailed.
